CAREERS AT THE SERO GROUP
Thank you for your interest in joining our team.
Really, thank you. It means a lot that you’d consider spending your days with us.
For more than 25 years, financial institutions and healthcare organizations have trusted The SERO Group to keep their SQL Server environments healthy, reliable, and secure. That trust isn’t built by software. It’s built by the people on this team.
Our mission is to equip companies with the SQL Server expertise, DBA team processes, and data insights they need to serve their own customers well.
We hire carefully, and we don’t hire often — which means every person who joins gets room to do their best work, a team that has their back, and clients who are genuinely glad they called. We’d rather leave a seat open than fill it with the wrong fit, so if we’re talking with you, it’s because we’re serious.
Whether you apply today, next quarter, or just want to trade notes with people who find this work interesting, we’re glad you stopped by.
Thank you for considering us.
Positions
DBA Consultant
You’ll own SQL Server health for your clients, monitoring, tuning, patching, and getting ahead of problems before they become incidents.
Apply for this roleWhat you’ll do
Own your clients’ databases. Remote SQL Server administration for your assigned clients: monitoring, performance tuning, maintenance planning, and patching.
Juggle real priorities. Manage work across several client environments at once and decide what needs your attention first.
Get ahead of problems. Spot performance, capacity, and reliability risks before they turn into outages.
Handle changes with care. Carry out approved maintenance and configuration changes following each client’s process, with client sign-off before anything touches production.
Communicate clearly. Turn technical findings into explanations your clients can actually use, and keep your work and client updates current in Freshdesk.
Team up when it counts. Work with our Principal Consultant team on complex issues and escalations, and step in after hours on the rare critical, time-sensitive problem.
What we’re looking for
At least 3 years administering SQL Server in production, with performance tuning, backup and recovery, SQL Server Agent, and routine maintenance in your toolkit. A degree in CS or IT is great, but hands-on experience counts just as much.
Comfort troubleshooting past SQL alone. You can work through unfamiliar technologies and client-specific quirks without someone walking you through it.
Familiarity with Windows Server, Failover Clustering, and SQL Server Availability Groups, plus enough grounding in networking, firewalls, and VPN access to hold your own in those conversations.
Clear communication, written and out loud. You can explain a technical issue to a client without burying them in jargon.
Ability to pass a standard background check.
Nice to have
Experience in regulated industries: banking, credit unions, healthcare, or energy companies
A consulting or managed-services background
